The life of an Avon Lady...

Updated: Jun 23, 2018

From being a full time mummy, to selling lipsticks and recruiting my own team. Find out about my Avon journey so far...

Meet my little fella, David who is my whole world

Well isn't he just gorgeous. This is my almost 3 year old son David. He loves to read stories and sing songs. His top toys are playmobil figures and cars. He has to cuddle Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny at bedtime. And he is currently obsessed with Star Wars. He is a typical boy who gets into mischief and likes anything with wheels and an engine. When he says 'love you mummy' he just melts my heart.

I start with David because he is my main motivation for being an Avon Sales leader. Working for Avon means I can stay at home with him and adjust my working day so I can always put him first. He loves coming out with mummy to do the 'books' as he calls it, and he recognises the Avon logo as the 'books'. One of the things I love is going out with David on a sunny day and collecting brochures. And he of course loves building towers and forts with my empty delivery boxes. Like I said, typical boy.

When I first started Avon my only goal was to get over what we call 'higher order value' which is £160 and allows me to earn 25% on all the orders I collect from customers. I was over the moon when I reached over that, and have ever since then in November 2016. At the time Avon had a rep welcome programme, where they sent new reps boxes full of free products for reaching this amount. Who doesn't want free make-up, skin care and designer handbags? And I've now moved onto building my own team and taking commission for what they sell. It takes support, and team work, and a thick skin. But I love it.

Many reps join my team and think its going to be easy money. Yes, Avon's products are easy to sell and there is good money to be made (that if you don't spend it all on buying stuff out of the rep's discount book like I do!) but it does require a degree of work. No one can expect to start their own business and have it make them millions in the first week. It takes a realistic plan and it takes work, and with Avon, above all, it take consistency.

But what other business allows you to work whilst watching TV, or sitting on a park bench whilst your little one plays? Multi level marketing, or working from home, inst for everyone. But it is for me. I can adjust my working day to suit me and my life. And being that I suffer with clinical depression, it also allows me to adjust my working day to how I am feeling on a day to day basis. Working for Avon gives me this flexibility. Sure I would love to be Avon's next millionaire, but realistically I just want to be able to earn enough money so that I can help support my family, and maybe pay for the odd holiday.

My first goal in my Avon journey is to take my little family to Disneyland Paris for a lovely little holiday. So watch this space....
